PUBLIC
ENEMY- Los Angeles House of Blues October 1999
By C.A. BATTS
Somebody dropped the ball. What happened to FIGHTING THE POWER.
How can a venue be half full and full of white boys for a PUBLIC
ENEMY concert. I was embarrassed. It¼s like watching Mike Tyson
be disqualified for knocking out a bum in the second round after
the bell rang. What should I say now...that Flava Flav stole the
show at 46 coming out with a 5 foot O.J. statue eating a banana
and doing his famousYYEEAAHHHBOOOYYYEEE and along the while promoting
his new album and dissing DEF JAM politely. I wanted to enjoy
the show so I'm not going to be petty and find faults at seeing
PE now rather than in 87...times have changed but not the message...
they will withstand the jigginess and shininess of most of the
rap shit that exist today... there songs are infinite in the souls
of the young black men they¼ve inspired.
