How long have you been djing?

Radio: since 1984, clubs: since 1989

What influenced you to get into house music?

Its change of direction in the mid-90s towards more jazz-influenced sounds.

Who or what were some of your influences way back when?

Soul, funk and reggae of all sorts, from P-Funk to Aswad and King Tubby. Two radio DJs, Spliff Skankin & Robert Rankin were my mentors in the reggae genre.

Who are some of your influences today?

The broken beat producders of West London, Compost records, dub and reggae still. How do you feel about dj's who do not have good mixing skills; but the crowd still jumps up and down because of who the dj is?

Music is an individual experience and your enjoyment of it is a very personal reaction based on your particular experience. So I try not to judge, but I'll generally be more interested in a DJ who can mix AND who's selection are equally interesting.

What is your favorite city to play in and why?

San Francisco and London, very open-minded both of them in terms of what genres you can play.

If not living in LA, how was your experience in Los Angeles?

Positive, I still have many friends there. It was a very formative and important period for me.

What should the vinyl collectors being looking out for by „yourself¾?

Some forth coming singles this fall "On The Move" and "Raices-Exploraciones" on label TBC.

What are some of the current projects you are working on?

A live dub band and some studio productions.

Any last words?

Global warming is a real phenomena, it's time for all of us to take personal steps towards reducing our fuel consumption and vigorously support old growth forest protection in the US and abroad.
