Rokaa IrisScience of Dilated Peoples

by Eddie Donaldson

Who are you?

What's up this is Rokaa IrisScience Dilated Peoples Platform.

Are you hip To GuerillaOne?

I am now.

You do know Eklips right?

AWR. Oh yeah of course. That's family right there. What's Up Eklips that's my man All Ways Rockin. That's the family right there.

What about graffiti, do you do graffiti?

Yeah I mean I did for most of my life, I concentrate mostly on rhymes now a days. I still be at the yards I love to hear ball bearings clanking in a spray can. I love the smell of spray paint. Whenever I get a chance man to go help somebody with a fill in or a background or something or whatever I'll still get down. What do you write?

Iris One Create To Devastate C2D crew.

From LA?

LA.

What nationality are you?

My fathers black and Choctaw. My mom is Korean from Seoul.

How long did you write graffiti?

First time I was really really conscious of what it was, was like 84, 85 like 16 years. Yeah I started tagging around the time when the Olympics were in LA.

How does it feel to finally blow up?

It always feels good when you try to do something and it connect with someone whether its 1 person or a billion people. You feel like if somebody gets it then your doing something right. There is billions of people in the world so your never gonna sell a record to everybody on the planet even if your Michael Jackson even if he sells a 100 million records there is still 6 or 7 billion people on the planet so no matter what your not going to make everybody happy. But we take it one step at a time, so it feels good when people start acknowledging and when it starts clicking with people. And also for myself it feels good to have refined myself and built on myself enough to really express what's really on my mind and get it across in the right way for people to connect wit it.

A while back we were putting together a trade show party for the Edge at Magic and somebody told us that dilated wasn't in to doing badge holder parties anymore. Is there a reason for that?

I don't know who you talked to but we just hired a manager about a week ago. Nah we've done a gang of conventions man. San Diego, Long Beach, Vegas. You know if somebody asks and they approach us in the right way and were free- we would definitely do it. We never had a problem, we never had a no convention policy. We have a lot of family that runs different types of clothing or shoe companies or whatever the case may be. And magazines whatever that want us to come down and if we're available we come down. That's just how its always been. We been out here a couple times on conventions, just in Vegas.

Do you remember who you performed for?

We did Urb magazine parties a couple of times. See that's how things get twisted up man. We have a manager and a booking agent and that didn't come from either one of them and it didn't come from me so its not official. As a matter of fact before we get out of here I will give you our real info. So next time you can just hit me directly.

We'll get at you through Dan. Casey tried to get at Evidence a couple of times before on some shit and it didn't really work out.

Yeah man tell Casey I said what's up too. That's my man I havenžt seen that cat in a... actually I see him he comes out to the shows man. I see him around. Yeah its good to see him out.

If you had to pick a hip hop magazine out there which one would it be. XXL The Source or Rapp Pages?

OOOhh maybe Rapp Pages. I don't know. To be honest I like the Source like I like Playboy. They've got good articles. I don't like the fashion plates and all that stuff. But they have a lot of world issues and things like that. Cause they have the resources to research world issues. So for that type of thing its really good. I like XXL its kinda raw while Rapp Pages is kinda like a good balance out of those 3.

Can we look forward to see you guys hit the road again?

We are workin on the new album right now so it will probably be some time around when the new album comes out. Like summertime. Late spring early summer.

Can the fans expect to here a little more from Alchemist on this record?

We have worked with alchemist as long as he's been producing. When he was still livin in LA since before he moved out there. Him and Ev have been best friends since jr. high school so you know he's been around. Al is definitely on the album we've already done a couple of joints wit him. And were still working wit him getting some more stuff knocked out. He is part of the foundation.

Any secret weapons on the new album?

Yeah its definitely some nice stuff going on. We work with the people we worked with in the past and we connected with some new people. On beats and lyrics. Were just trying to take what we do to another level.

What do you think about Crazy Town blowing up?

Oh man that cat Seth man I've known that cat. You know he hung out with Alchemist and Scott and Evidence.

The Whooliganz?

Yeah the Whooliganz and my partner Evidence they all used to hang out together. AM their DJ.. AM. They all used to party together. So I know them cats from way back. He was into music at that time too he took himself more seriously as a rapper early. Now he is more like an pop singer type MC but hežs still been trying to do the entertainment business thing. So whenever anybody is successful for any reason you've got to get them some props. That song is everywhere. Hopefully they will have continued success.

Any last words or shouts you want to send out via internet?

Yeah man big up AWR crew C2D, CBS my man Eklips everybody doing there thing. J5. Were in Vegas right now in Vegas doing our thing with Cut Chemist, Dj Quik, Hurricane and a Poet Name Life. So you know obviously we don't discreminate no matter wherever there is a mic and turn tables. So everybody stay wide awake and stay open here it comes.
