Interview:
KET ONE
Interview by: Look One Fk
Q- How long have you been
writing and are you currently active?
Ket- I've been writing since 86' and I wouldn't consider myself active;
but I do paint here and there.
Q- Why did you choose graffiti
as a means of expression?
Ket- At the time everybody was writing, it was the natural thing to do-like
playing basketball and break dancing.
Q- What's your personal
preference trains, walls, or other alternative surfaces?
Ket- Trains. They're the most exciting and most fun, everything else is
pretty much a drag.
Q- What crews are you in
and how did you get down with them?
Ket- I'm down with several crews. A lot of them are friends-that's how
I got down with them. Just being cool with them, we are like family. Crews
such as AOK, RIS, WKS, DTK and MTK.
Q- What's up with Charlie?
Ket- I painted a wall in San Diego with him and Frame during the last
ASR show. Charlie is involved with this low rider car club-"Lifestyles"-he
is not into graffiti at all.
Q- What was your craziest
painting experience?
Ket- Myself, Charlie and Zeno were going to paint some clean trains. We
were in the tunnels and accidentally made a wrong turn in the tunnel.
We ended up in a tunnel with "no clearance", meaning if a train passes
by there you will get hit. So we started walking back, and at a certain
point the tunnel splits into two. As we were walking back we noticed a
train coming in our direction, this was real scary because there is "no
clearance". So we started to haul-ass towards the train to make the split
so we could get into the other tunnel. Right at the fork in the tunnel
is where the train passed by, we all jumped up onto this ledge, Zeno was
the last one to jump but he fell. Charlie dragged him just before the
train passed, saving his life. I've been chased and I've climbed into
crazy places, but I would have to say that this experience was the craziest.
Q- Have you traveled and
painted?
Ket- Cuba- I bombed in Havanah. Last year when I was there I did a piece
on a wall. This time I just took a maker and got up.
Q- Where else have you traveled
and painted?
Ket- Zurich, Copenhagen and Munich. In Zurch I did some street bombing,
I painted trains in Copenhagen and in Munich I painted trains.
Q-How was your west coast
experience if any?
Ket- Always great; I have a lot of boys out there-DTK. I've been painting
in L.A. since 1990.
Q- What is the train situation
in New York, is anyone bombing?
Ket- Stuff's being painted, but it's not that noticeable. It still is
happening, but nothing lasts. People don't really want to waist their
paint on something that's going to get the buff right away.
Q- Is it true that it is
a federal offense to paint subways in New York?
Ket- That's what they say, but I'm not sure if it is. Cope got caught
and was charged with a felony, but it was lowered to a misdemeanor. Seen
got caught too and his charge ended up being a misdemeanor.
Q- So I guess its not a
felony?
Ket- They didn't get caught in the act, the cops went to their homes and
got them. Both of them had good attorneys and were able to beat their
cases.
